US Embassy to Botswana Deputy Chief of Mission Tim Smith and Magdeline Madibela, Trade Hub Gender AdvisorNewly arrived Deputy Chief of Mission to the US Embassy in Botswana Tim Smith visited the Trade Hub on September 11, 2015 for an overview of project activities with special emphasis on interventions in Botswana and coordination with SADC, followed by a tea with all staff.

During the visit, DCM Smith was briefed by component leaders on recent successful USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub activities, including the handover of the SPS Strategies to SADC in August and the submission of the Comprehensive Trade Facilitation Programme to SADC, which will offer the region a unified approach to fulfilling key trade facilitation milestones. The DCM was also apprised of two major activities for Botswana and SADC this month: the launch of Botswana’s National Enquiry Point in coordination with the Botswana Bureau of Standards, and the first import/export under the SADC Harmonized Seed Regulations set to take place in Swaziland.
