On October 15, 2015, the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) honored USAID with an award at ZNFU’s 110th Annual Congress in Lusaka, Zambia. The award was made by ZNFU in recognition of USAID’s successful efforts to develop a Warehouse Receipts System (WRS) for Zambia. The award itself was presented to the Trade Hub by His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the President of the Republic of Zambia.
The prestigious Oracle Sustainable Innovation Award 2015 is being awarded to USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub as a result of the Warehouse Receipts System IT programs in Zambia and Mozambique. The Trade Hub is one of five awardees this year (including CISCO) as selected by a voting board at Oracle in San Francisco.
USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub has been awarded the Partnership of the Year Award by the USAID Center for Transformational Partnerships for its work with COMACO in Zambia.
COMACO’s “It’s Wild!” brand of food products uses all natural raw ingredients produced by a large network of smallholder farmers. The farmers are paid a premium price for their crops as a reward for adopting sustainable agricultural practices to conserve and restore ecosystems and wildlife.
