The Mozambique Instituto Nacional de Normalização e Qualidade (INNOQ), with support from USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub, held two seminars on “Private Sector Participation in Standards Development” in Quelimane (Zambezia Province) and Inhambane (Inhambane Province) on November 27 and 30, 2015, respectively.
On November 16, 2015, USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub supported Mozambique’s Instituto Nacional de Normalização e Qualidade (INNOQ) to host a sensitization workshop for the business community in Tete Province. The purpose of the workshop was to enhance awareness of the importance of standards and to increase participation in the standards development process.
On August 11, 2015, the Instituto Nacional de Normalização e Qualidade (INNOQ), supported by USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub, held an outreach and informational seminar in Pemba regarding the development and relaunch of Mozambique’s National Enquiry Point (NEP).
The Trade Hub organized a benchmarking mission from April 19-25 for five standards officers: three from the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) and two from the Swaziland Standards Authority (SWASA). The objective of the mission, which took the officers to the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), was for the delegates to understand the effective operations of a World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) National Enquiry Point (NEP) as they work to institute NEPs in their own countries.
