Trade and Investment Projects in Zambia
In Zambia, the Hub is supporting economic diversification, job creation and fostering a business environment conducive to trade and investment. The Hub implements activities in four critical areas:

Finance and Investment
Accelerating U.S. and international investment to businesses to promote strategic value chains and grow international trade links
Export Competitiveness
Helping companies to leverage AGOA to increase exports to the U.S.
Enabling Environment and Trade Facilitation
Fostering transparent, reliable, efficient and cost-effective trade policies and related infrastructure
Agribusiness
Increasing the competitiveness of agricultural value chains for export through investment, technology transfer, and greater private sector participation

Core Activities in Zambia
Finance and Investment

  • Facilitating private foreign investments in export ready businesses
  • Implementing and strengthening the Warehouse Receipts Systems (WRS) n Supporting implementation of the National Plan for Investment
  • Partnering with financial institutions on inclusive financial products and services, including support for structured trading platforms

Export Competitiveness

  • Updating and supporting Zambia's AGOA utilization strategy
  • Partnering with the Zambia Development Agency to link international buyers of specialty foods, textiles and apparel to Zambian businesses
  • Helping exporters earn organic certification and comply with Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP)

Enabling Environment and Trade Facilitation

  • Assisting relevant agencies to streamline inspection and clearance procedures
  • Strengthening compliance with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), sanitary and phytosanitary standards (SPS) and technical barriers to trade (TBT) protocols
  • Supporting the development of a trade information portal

Agribusiness

  • Building the Zambian Market Information System to communicate grain spot and future prices
  • Supporting the formation of a feed manufacturing association to increase trade volumes in grain and oilseeds
  • Establishing a modern fresh produce market in Lusaka
