Testing for Microtoxin at VetLabs. On 25 August 2015, the SA Trade Hub grants team visited VetLabs in Lusaka, Zambia, who through a strategic partnership with Deltamune of South Africa, is in the process of establishing the first private ISO 17025 accredited testing facilities in Zambia. This project was initiated in September 2014 through a strategic partnership grant (SPG).

Deltamune is in the final stages of lab equipment and infrastructure upgrades and completed installation of a new water system, paved roads, and internal structures to improve access and the efficiency of the lab’s interior space. VetLabs and Deltamune have also begun Microtoxin testing. Staff training is ongoing and includes enhancing grading, equipment utilization, and testing methods. Deltamune and VetLabs are jointly recruiting for a final staff member to complete the laboratory team. The team is also continuing to prepare its standard operating procedures to complete the final steps for ISO 17025 accreditation, which they anticipate receiving by December 2015.
