Cosmas Mamhunze

AGOA, Trade and Investment Specialist

Cosmas Mamhunze is AGOA Trade Specialist at the USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub. He will be responsible for assisting associa-tions/firms from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) become export competitive, take advantage of the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) to export to the US. Cosmas will help firms become export-ready and assist export-ready firms explore the export market. Besides the U.S. market, Cos will be promoting intra-regional trade primarily focusing on specialty foods and garments.

Prior to moving to SATH, Cos has worked for US and USAID-related programs since 1999, starting with US-GTN (managed by IESC). USGTN was promoting transfer of technology from US to African firm. He also worked for Enterprise Florida Southern Africa, a US State of Florida Trade Office for Southern Africa, based in Johannesburg. From Enterprise Florida, Cos moved to the South African International Business Linkages (SAIBL) as the Senior Specialist- Trade & AGOA, managing Namibia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Cosmas has attained regional and international exposure in terms of enterprise development, trade facilitation and transfer of technology. Recently, he set up the Uganda and Zimbabwe offices for the SAIBL program, which were added to his portfolio that included Namibia and Zambia.

Cosmas holds an Honors Degree in Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Zimbabwe, an MBA from Preston University and an Advanced Certificate in International Trade from ITRISA. He is in the process of completing his Diploma in International Trade Management with the International Trade Institute of Southern Africa (ITRISA).
