On November 3, 2015, USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub met with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in Accra, Ghana to improve standards development and implementation in the SADC region.
Planned activities include a training session on International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee National Mirror Committees for participants from Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, and Swaziland; organizing an exchange between US experts, the SADC Cooperation on Standardization (SADCSTAN), and the SADC Technical Regulation Liaison Committee on Good Regulatory Practice; and a workshop in partnership with the South African Bureau of Standards on the World Trade Organization Code of Good Practice. All of the three proposed workshops are scheduled to be completed before the end of February 2016.
The Trade Hub and ANSI meeting was held on the sidelines of a training and exchange on the establishment and administration of ISO National Mirror Committees organized by ANSI.
