Gail Strickler visits Lesotho T&A FactoryAssistant U.S. Trade Representative for Textiles Gail Strickler visited Lesotho with USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub on June 16, 2015 to visit a number of apparel and textile manufacturers. During her visit she met with government officials, including the Minister of Trade and Industry Joshua Setipa and the CEO of the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), Kelebone Leisanyane.

The trip included visits to several Lesotho apparel factories, including Formosa Textile Company, Tlotliso Holdings, and Luqy Manufacturing. Luqy and Tlotliso both participated in the MAGIC Las Vegas apparel, textiles, and footwear trade show (the largest in the world) this past February through the support of the Southern Africa Trade Hub. As a result, Luqy has generated two major sales of synthetic apparel to the United States. “It was our first time at MAGIC and we thought it would be mainly a learning experience for us but we then made two sales to the U.S…amazing!” said Luqmaan Adams, Director of Luqy.
