Oryx Desert Salt (www.oryxdesertsalt.co.za) a widely popular brand of high-end salt and pepper, sold widely in South Africa through Woolworths and other leading specialty food retailers, has joined forces with the Trade and Investment Hub to promote further exports of their growing range of salt products.
Oryx Desert Salt is a natural, crystal-white salt – unrefined, sun-dried, and free from additives and preservatives. It is harvested in a sustainable manner from a remote and pristine area of the vast Kalahari Desert in South Africa.
The burgeoning partnership with the Hub builds on a pre-existing relationship with Oryx. The Hub previously assisted the brand to be included in American subscription gift boxes developed by Try the World, www.trytheworld.com. Try the World is an e-commerce site with over 60,000 monthly customers specifically promoting international foods to Americans via online marketing and subscriptions. In May 2017, the Hub facilitated a Try the World buyers mission to South Africa, Swaziland, and Zambia.
During the Try the World buyer’s mission, the Hub introduced Try the World to Bakali Foods, Infanta Foods, Fynbos Fine Foods, Yswara, Wildebraam, Braaitime, and Oryx Salt. After selecting seven companies for its trial “South Africa box,” Try the World issued purchase orders valued at approximately US$100,000 for various food products. The Hub is now assisting Oryx Desert Salts to build a potential business partnership with the large United Arab Emirates retailer Spinney’s.
