From May 19-21, participants from nine different government and private sector stakeholder agencies were given Change Management Training on National Single Window by the Trade Hub. The training was designed to prepare relevant officials in Malawi for the successful implementation of National Single Window (NSW), which will allow parties involved in trade and transport to submit all trade-related documents via a single electronic entry point to reduce the time and cost of trade.
The training was designed specifically for the officials in attendance and focused on the elements of change that will need to be managed at multiple levels within the respective agencies for NSW to occur. Attendees were drawn from the Malawi Revenue Authority; the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Malawi Bureau of Standards; Malawi Investment and Trade Center; Pharmacy, Medicines & Poisons Board; Roads Authority; Malawi Confederation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and the Clearing & Forwarding Agents Association of Malawi.
Course participants enjoyed the training and now understand the appropriate level of stakeholder buy-in required for the NSW system. The training provided them with the confidence that proactively applying change management principles early in the project lifecycle will produce effective results in implementation.
