The third annual Source Africa textiles and apparel trade show event took place in Cape Town, South Africa from June 9-11, 2015. USAID's Southern Africa Trade Hub sponsored the event, working in collaboration with the US Consulate in Cape Town and the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
This 90 second video captures the highlights of the exhibition and the accompanying seminar series, which covered the foreign investment opportunities in the sector, ways to boost the industry, the poverty alleviation potential in the textiles and apparel industry in sub-Saharan Africa, and what consumers are looking for now.
The show attracted participants from around the world to see product exhibited by African manufacturers and encouraged the development of long-term sourcing relationships between buyers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia with suppliers in Africa. As high-profile speaker Rosa Whitaker stated during her address at the event: "Africa is happening now."
