The President of Kenya, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, examines product from Trade Hub Strategic Partnership Grantee Lumuno FarmsUSAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub has a Strategic Partnership grant with Lumuno Farms, a chili sauce producer and demonstration organic farm located near Lusaka, Zambia. In response to the farm’s increased productivity made possible by the Trade Hub grant, Lumuno is exploring regional markets and receiving major interest in its products.

During the official opening of the Nairobi International Trade Fair in Kenya on October 2, 2015, the Director of Lumuno, Khama Mbewe, exhibited Lumuno’s organic products to the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, as seen in the photo above.

The Strategic Partnership Grant with Lumuno has upgraded the chili processing line by installing new equipment and is establishing an outgrower arrangement to boost production capacity of chili sauce and train farmers to supply the producer. Training programs for 300 farmers in Mumbwa and Copperbelt are taking place in the next few weeks.
