NSW training malawiThe Southern Africa Trade Hub provided Project Management Training for the Malawi National Single Window (NSW) project implementation team from March 9-13 at the Malawi Revenue Authority national training facility in Blantyre.

The course was attended by ten government of Malawi officials representing four different agencies crucial to National Single Window: the Malawi Revenue Authority, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Malawi Bureau of Standards, and the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre, as well as two Trade Hub staff members. The training course was delivered by Dr. Andre Malan who previously delivered similar training for the Trade Hub in Namibia.

Course topics included Project Management Context, Organizational Influences, and Project Life Cycle, with the training supported by a number of practical assignments. Participants completed group and inpidual projects addressing the key processes of project management in finer detail including Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing.

As the Trade Hub Single Window Road Map progresses, it will be necessary for the government to commit to a multi-agency Single Window Project Management Unit (PMU). It is intended that participants of this training course will staff the PMU, bringing a higher level of expertise and familiarity with best practices to the work.
